Switch Spiders Strange offshoots of evolution sometimes occur when the selective pressure of developed society is the driving force. One particular oddity arose when a rather large subspecies of spider that had previously been an insectivore developed a mutualistic relationship with bacteria living in the bottoms of human dressers and the backs of closets. This particular strain of bacteria had evolved novel enzymes for digesting lint and stray fibers.
